StatCite provides read-only access to economic statistics retrieved from official sources, with citations, over MCP and HTTP. It is offered free of charge on a fair-use basis.
StatCite relays figures published by the underlying sources and identifies the exact series used. Statistics are revised by their publishers. Values reflect what the source currently publishes, which may differ from earlier or later vintages. Computed results (transforms, inflation adjustment, FX bridging) disclose their method. The service is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. You are responsible for verifying suitability for your purpose. Nothing here is investment, legal, or policy advice.
Two different things are on this site and they carry different rights. Conflating them is the most common mistake, so this section separates them plainly.
The numbers are not ours. Every figure comes from the World Bank, the IMF, the ECB or the BIS and remains theirs, under their own licences. Every response names the licence that applies to it. Use the data under those terms, attribute it to the publisher rather than to us, and do not present StatCite as its source.
The service is ours. The tool and endpoint design, the verification logic and the meaning of its verdicts, the citation format, the curated indicator registry, the source-precedence and fallback rules, the licence ledger, the wording of these pages, and the code behind all of it are original work, copyright the StatCite operator.
What you may do. Read it, index it, link to it, call it from an agent, and ground an answer on it and cite it. That is what the service exists for, and no permission is needed. Quoting with attribution and a link is welcome.
What you may not do. Use this site or its responses as training or fine-tuning material for a model, or reproduce the original work described above as your own service. This reservation is declared in machine-readable form in robots.txt using the Content Signals Policy (search=yes, ai-input=yes, ai-train=no, use=reference) and in /.well-known/tdmrep.json under the Text and Data Mining Reservation Protocol.
These are declarations of terms, not technical barriers, and we would rather be read than walled off. Operators who respect the signals are the ones we want here anyway.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, StatCite and its operator are not liable for any damages arising from use of the service or reliance on its output.
The service and these terms may change. Continued use after posted changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be posted here.
